Texas Instruments UCC28780EVM-002 Evaluation Module with GaN FET

Texas Instruments UCC28780EVM-002 Active Clamp Flyback 45W AC/DC Evaluation Module with GaN FET is a platform for demonstrating the UCC28780 active-clamp flyback controller, as well as the UCC24612 synchronous rectifier controller on the secondary side. Operating in several adaptive modes, the UCC28780 controller minimizes power loss over the full line and load ranges. The Texas Instruments UCC28780EVM-002 uses a 45W offline adapter to promote high efficiency and high density through the UCC28780 at a high-frequency nominal 300kHz using GaN MOSFET NV6115 and NV6117 power ICs. The input voltage range of 90Vac to 264VAC is converted down to 20VDC, with a 2.25A nominal output current rating.

Features

  • 45W, 20V AC-to-DC converter using active-clamp flyback controller, GaN MOSFET power IC, and synchronous rectification
  • High efficiency (>94%), high power density (>20W/in3), low standby power (55mW), and high switching frequency (300kHz)
  • Exceeds EU Code of Conduct and US Department of Energy efficiency requirements
  • The adaptive burst mode feature maintains high efficiency even at light loads
  • Tested, orderable, and includes a User's Guide
