Nexperia NCA6416 Low-Voltage 16-Bit I/O Expanders
Nexperia NCA6416 Low-Voltage 16-Bit I/O Expanders are developed for microcontrollers that require additional I/O pins. The device transmits via an I²C-bus interface, making it ideal for applications with minimal space and wiring. These applications include battery-powered devices employing sensors, keypads, push buttons, or LED control for managing LED brightness.
The Nexperia NCA6416 incorporates four pairs of 8-bit registers: configuration, input, output, and polarity inversion. By default, all I/O pins are configured as inputs at power-on. A system controller can dynamically reconfigure these pins as inputs or outputs by writing to the configuration register. The Input and Output registers reserve the current state of each pin. The polarity inversion register enables the inversion of the polarity of the input pins, which can facilitate logic in the system by eliminating the requirement for external gates.
